@Giga_Vril_Breaker @eee @weaf @cassidyclown Do you actually want to be Gosling in Drive, though? Doesn't he pretty much ruin his own life and probably die for the sake of a divorced coal burner and her mysterymeat child?

@eee @weaf @cassidyclown The Germans apprehended me and confiscated my scorpion jacket, whereupon they proceeded to step on it with their special clothing-rending boots, until my treasured outfit all but disintegrated. Later, they took me to a small room and sat me on a chair, my back facing the door. As I sat there, staring at the blank wall in front of me, questions began pouring in, along with commands to repeat the words spoken to me, each one twice. When the last question came, asking me if I am indeed Ryan Gosling, I answered with a resounding "yes". This caused the guards to come in and violently snatch me away, as they told me I had failed the test and was no Ryan Gosling. This shattered my self - esteem to the point that I pieced together a rope from the leftover scraps of my scorpion jacket, tied a noose, and hanged myself. My self-made execution failed however, and I was brought to life by the camp's medic. As I rose from my coma, he spoke to me: "Herr Weaf, you will not pass today. Your punishment will be to live knowing you are not Ryan Gosling from Drive (2011)." I shuddered and uttered a silent scream. My true torture was about to begin.

@givenup @Giga_Vril_Breaker @eee @weaf @cassidyclown It's a fine movie, it's just that it's kinda like Taxi Driver where even if you can relate to the main character, you really shouldn't try to be like them. Like the guy from Drive has heroic instincts, but he pretty much wastes them on shit that doesn't actually achieve anything that great.

@Giga_Vril_Breaker @eee @weaf @cassidyclown No really, Drive is not actually a based movie. Yeah he has a cool jacket and drives around in a cool car and kills gangsters, but he still does it for a polluted womb and her disgusting goblin child for no reward.

@eee @Giga_Vril_Breaker @weaf @cassidyclown Refin is a libtard arthouse nerd, I don't think he was trying to "warn the white man". I meant my question as in what the authorial intent was.

@SaltWraith @eee @Giga_Vril_Breaker @weaf @cassidyclown as they say, art can't lie. So perhaps more visible would be what the influences were for him to make it

@Giga_Vril_Breaker @eee @weaf @cassidyclown It's nice to be in touch with your humanity, but if you're gonna sell your life you should aim a little higher. Like he was a cool autist, but man did he essentially self destruct just to feel some tingles for a bit. Not worth it.

@SaltWraith @eee @weaf @cassidyclown I understand and I agree but that's not the point.
Budding alt-riters found the story a reflection of their own, where in then-current year America, they would've been happy enough to defend a qt blondie with a mestizo mutt for a chance to be in touch with their humanity. Anyway, there've been far better analyses of the film from a rw/wn perspective than mine here.

@sickburnbro @eee @Giga_Vril_Breaker @weaf @cassidyclown Well his favorite director is the arch-conman Alejandro Jodorowsky, who built his entire career out of making weird and upsetting bullshit and then selling it as "art", and after Drive Refin made Only God Forgives and Neon Demon, which are also about showing you weird and upsetting bullshit. He's essentially a more flashy and palatable but also less creatively interesting Lars Von Trier

@SaltWraith @eee @Giga_Vril_Breaker @weaf @cassidyclown so it's even more important what the inspiration for *this* movie was then, if that is the level of his standard output.
