@AidanTTIerian@Zerglingman@Moon Kids don't know how to use computers. This post aged like fine wine and becomes more true every time I read it again. I should archive it before it eventually disappears.
@Moon@AidanTTIerian@BowsacNoodle >Jobs wasn't an idiot YES HE FUCKING WAS OSX UI IS THE MOST GARBAGE SHIT I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED I HAVE NOT YET HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF ATTEMPTING TO NAVIGATE IOS
@BowsacNoodle@Moon@AidanTTIerian Extremely based anti-tldr. By default, I make things as succinct and simple as possible. If it is long and complex, it is because it is necessarily long and complex!
@BowsacNoodle@Moon@AidanTTIerian Reading the definitions of "can't use a computer" is killing me. I like to pretend these people don't actually exist, or that they don't actually try to use computers.
@Zerglingman@AidanTTIerian@Moon I regularly encounter this in the wild. People understand things like how to use a program and maybe interact that with another program, but that is where it ends. It's like understanding that a car has a break pedal and first gear (automatic) and not knowing how to reverse or use the gasoline. We've made roadways to allow for these sorts of people, never bothering to ensure they also learned of the higher gears, the gas pedal, and the rest of the vehicle's capability. Very sad.
@BowsacNoodle@Moon@AidanTTIerian I also believe that people should maintain their own vehicles, which is why I do not own a car; I grew up maintaining cars as an assistant to my dad, and I consider it an abysmal task. I do not expect every car owner to have an engine hoist. But I expect them to know who in the neighbourhood does, and know when they ought to ask to borrow it. I don't expect them to be able to fix a bent head, but I expect them to know how to detect a bent head and toss it. For myself, I am going to keep using the vehicle that I can pick up and carry if it all goes to shit. The vehicle where the max bolt torque is <20cspb (cheeseslices per burger).
@AidanTTIerian@Zerglingman@Moon There are valid arguments for and against the concept of folder structures but "kids don't know about them and I am too lazy to teach" is not a valid argument.
