     @nemesis @CSB @MartinDeLaToot @wyliesau @meso being locked into a platform bc of network effects certainly qualifies as "grudgingly" in my view, there is no serious competition on offer and anything which tries either gets swamped in hosting costs, ux problems, or has serious onboarding problems due to the nature of the communities which already exist there. the most likely outcome is simply x losing what relevance it once had thru continual feature bleed and becoming a member of the living dead like so many social networks have before it (if you want to see what x will be like tomorrow, look at what mixi is like today)
