   If you're using Mastodon through the web on a computer, there's an optional multicolumn interface you can use instead of the default single column one.

   1. Log in through your server’s website
   2. Click ⚙️ Preferences
   3. Tick the box marked Enable Advanced Web Interface
   4. Click the Save Changes button
   5. Click the Back to Mastodon link at the left of the screen

   If you change your mind, click the ⚙️ icon on the left to get back to settings.

     Ooooooooooooooooooh I *finally* understand what the whole deal is with that mode. 🤕 🧱 (there's no desk or wall emojis)

     I tried it a few times, but didn't understand you could pin the columns so I was like "what's the point?" 😆

     If it wasn't for your screenshot, I wouldn't have gotten it.

     Yeah, you can add as many columns as you want!

     Not as far as I've seen. Nor have I found a way to adjust the width of the columns.

     @Gurre @feditips is there any way to hide the right hand default column? Or make clicked posts open in the same column, not on the far right ( tribute to another social site? )

     @feditips talking about the interface (web), there's no way to resize the post/reply textarea, right? This drives me crazy 😄 , especially when replying, it's extremely small.

     Unfortunately there's no official way of doing this.

     If you're comfortable using github, you can vote for this feature to be added by giving a thumbs up at https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/9463 (thanks to @astro_ray for highlighting this).
