@gemlog With your background, do you think you've been in BC so many years that your accent is basically BC?
I mean by default. Maybe it becomes Welsh when you talk to Welsh people?
My Swedish accent becomes a mix of my parents and the place I grew up if I talk to someone from either of those places or people from the north, more Stockholm when I talk to east coast Swedes and slightly more of my university town if I talk to west coast or south Swedish people.
My English is very flexible and I basically 50% adopt the accent of the person I'm talking to. The other 50% is Swedish+mid-Atlantic.
At first I thought cross and sauce rhyming seemed outrageous, but after disucssing it back and forth for a bit I'm starting to believe they probably would rhyme in my speech if I were talking to an American.
