    Need to point this out.

    As a murderer stabbed a Muslim woman named Dr. Talat Khan to death, witnesses report that 17 Texans pulled out their firearms. 17! The murderer stabbed her, stopped to check her pulse, confirmed she was alive, & went back to stabbing her to death.

    And 17 "good guys with guns" did nothing.

    A reminder that the "good guy with a gun" myth is a propaganda point to sell more guns. It does nothing beyond an anecdote to save lives.

      Killer stabs doctor then checks her pulse before stabbing her again.
      from https://www.facebook.com/DailyMail
      Dr Talat Khan, 52, was sitting with her dog outside an apartment block in Conroe when the killer 'came out of nowhere' and launched himself on the mother-of-two.

      @meena @amberage I can't find a single source that confirms "people with guns watched the stabbing and did nothing". This is a Daily Mail specific detail that appears to be bullshit. It appears people came out with guns *as the suspect ran away*.

      Were they supposed to shoot in his general direction and hope no bystanders get hit?

      @amberage not to be a complete asshat, but that person is linking to Daily Mail, which is an absolute shitrag of a newspaper.

      (then again, I'm not sure there's any newspaper on Terf Island that doesn't qualify for that title)

      @feld @amberage @meena

      I'll admit that some of my angry comments on the situation (because it's a terrible situation) might be out of proportion, but at the very least this shows that normal people having guns won't stop violent crime.

      Whether they could have done something and failed or they were unable to do anything at all, "the good guy with a gun" is a myth.
