   I want to say that I wonder how long it'll take before people start to just use peertube instead of inventing all these different copes like invidious or adblock mitigations or yt-dlp to continue relying on youtube as it continues to get worse, but I guess there's also like no conceivable monetization strategy for peertube unless channels rely on donations, and also the monetization strategies that youtube uses is the reason why things are getting worse

     @ch0ccyra1n I honestly don't care if channels edit ads into their videos because they're usually short and easy to skip instead of like with ads that are integrated into youtube where you need to wait and then manually click a skip button, but then again I don't really watch any channels that do this

     @nyx frankly, the only thing keeping me from using PeerTube is that there's no equivalent to SponsorBlock for it.

     @ch0ccyra1n also the thing that keeps me from using peertube is that none of the channels I watch are on it lole

     @nyx @ch0ccyra1n Even in tech conferences realm, not everything is on Peertube.
     
     So far I think indie movie makers are that only ones that strongly tend to not use Youtube but Vimeo instead (and probably just because you can actually *sell* your films there). (I'm also excluding porn, not allowed and some platforms are like 10 years older than youtube)

     @allison @ch0ccyra1n @nyx Which is why BitTorrent isn't a terribly bad idea, sadly I'd say WebTorrent fails to deliver.
     
     But also: Most streamers/youtubers/… have no idea how to actually have a working business model.
