  I like to think MGS2 was very well intentioned: things *seemed* unreasonable, outlandish and outright aggressive in its assertions that it needed to be the way that it was
  
  But displacing time away from it and examining the entire experience having been something with deep intention from the start really makes the case that everything from jungle boogie to "I need scissors, 61" being faithful elements in the hellthread that was MGS2
  
  but real talk Naomi should have stayed British but I realize they really liked Hale and she's not a bad egg, so there's that I guess

  The whole game was about how much sequels suck, then big facets of the story were exaggerated digs at sequels (including Ocelot's speech where he retcons something he had just retconned immediately a minute ago), and then Snake and the Colonel talk about how stupid gamers are. I mean, I fully believe he intended to make a great game but he also said he didn't plan to make a MGS and that he didn't want to make a sequel and then he had to.

  Same with Mei Ling, they took everyone's accent away and then everyone was just American.

  THE REASONLESS ASS-PULL WAS THE BEST PART OF MGS2

  Lotta cool moments like that but every time I think about Naomi, I wish they'd kept the accents.

  4 gets swept under the rug for a lot of reasons: I unironically enjoyed it, a lot, and the plot twists were well done and didn't feel like ass pulls for no reason
  
  the game was so thoughtful and intuitive with how you approached many different situations even if the most obvious choice did lead you to the correct spot, but I remember being led astray by "Naomi's" garments in SA only to find a hut rigged with bombs for my first playthrough
  
  or the branching paths for the European episode
  
  or... the entire 4th episode that hit me right in the childhood
  
  hard to believe it was so long ago now

  at first it's like "damn it, snake, quit grabbin the chode" then I did it a second time and
