- relaxing in bed with plushies
- eating good food with my chosen family
- becoming more consistent with exercise and stretching
- reading messages from former coworkers who want to make the jump too but are nervous or feel trapped, and assuring them that there are companies hiring
- looking for fun ways to attack a cryptosystem on my backlog

@arch @soatok even without pay cuts, often "you must come to an office" also means "you must effectively make less by living somewhere with a universally-higher CoL", between the rent and essentials. I'm grateful that I'm working at a university I live near that also is in a low CoL area, but I also think they shouldn't only offer hybrid WFH.

It is nearly impossible to maintain an office-centric culture when all your institutional knowledge walks out the door to work for your competitors.
The day these CEOs realize their mistake (nevermind that they have thousands of employees telling them their mistake today), they're going to age significantly.
This is especially worrying for their security operations teams.

Big tech companies are hemorrhaging their top talent because of this forced relocation mandate, and it will be months before they realize how fucked they are.
If you run a remote-first tech company, now is the best time to reach out to the luminaries of your niche in the field. Even if they aren't planning to leave, they're probably mentor to folks that are.
Community must come before corporate interests. ;3

I resigned effective immediately after my Megaplex vacation since I had a job offer with a company that won't try to force me to jackass across the country and separate from my closest friends.
I worked with a really good team on interesting projects. I'm sad to leave them, but the CEO decided to be a dumbfuck. I was remote before the pandemic. He mandated that everyone relocate to come into the office 3 days/week.
Whenever anyone in life gives you an ultimatum, it's almost never wise to choose them.
I chose autonomy.
