      @apps@toot.fedilab.app I don't get it. What real distinction is there from a UE perspective of blocks vs. mutes. In either case, as far as I understand it, the blocked/muted user is no longer heard from.

      There is a huge difference. Let's say you have a website where you write articles.
      You have bad and good comments, but also spam or toxic comments visible by everyone.
      Toxic, because they don't bring values and the goal is to harass.
      You will moderate them by banning these accounts so they can't do it again.
      Block feature somehow allows that.

      So, here, accounts fully lose control on who can interact with them.

      Also that system can be abused. Like a politician could just block all of their detractors so they can’t post anything critical. Or you could block someone and just lie about them and they can’t see or respond to your accusations.

      @bot @adiz @apps Some oversensitive people like blocking and then attacking the people they block so the blocked have no way to defend themselves.

      Seems he’s still alive then. It’s not a valid point anyway, doxing isn’t allowed on Twitter. Also, if “nazis” have your home address, they could just share it amongst themselves.
