     @adiz I got a day pass to check out the Golds Gym near me, but the reviews are really bad. also seems like its a shady contract too

     @eris@akko.disqordia.space I never had a bad experience with them, and I used to go regularly for a few years. It's the only other "economical" gym I am aware of, however, vs. something like Planet Fitness which is more aligned towards things I'm disinterested in (e.g. weightlifting). Also, a lot of Golds offer stuff like saunas and pools and trainers/classes if interested, where I'm pretty sure Planet Fitnesses offer none of these. All the other gyms around me, by comparison, cost like 8x/mo.

     @adiz it sounds like the different Golds Gyms arent actually connected so experiences are wildly different depending on which one you go to.
     
     but ill give it a chance and hope for the best!

     @eris@akko.disqordia.space Let me clarify/correct myself: *Gold's Gym* is more aligned towards weightlifting, which I am interested in. Planet Fitness is not.

     @eris@akko.disqordia.space My old Gold's had plenty of machines too. But PF had way more cardio-centric stuff, whereas Gold's had a lot more free-weights and benches, et al..

     @adiz what I usually do is cardio for an hour and then weight lift, cause I'm doing it more for weight loss and heart health so cardio is a must haha

     @eris@akko.disqordia.space I'm the complete opposite. I hate cardio and almost exclusively focus on weightlifting for G A I N S. So, for me, Gold's was a good fit. For you, Planet Fitness might be better. Also, there are Planet Fitnesses everywhere nation-wide and I'm pretty certain you can use 1 membership to access all of them.

     @adiz I like Planet Fitness, no complaints really, but none are close to me.
     
     I could walk 20 minutes to Golds or 24 hour, or I could walk 20 minutes and then take the train for 20 minutes to get to PF. No brained

     @eris@akko.disqordia.space Oh, yeah. Well, Gold's will still have all the stuff that you'd want, either way. And they're going to be in the same ballpark price-wise for a basic membership. Considering the commute differences between the two then I'd probably go with Gold's if I was you.

     @vriska @eris I'd make a joke about how that's not a poison type, but there's a poison type volcarona now. Which is also a robot, and is basically named "steel bug" despite being a fire/poison type. Because a robot moth being a fire/poison type makes perfect sense. I miss back when you'd have pokemon who are rocks with rock in their name and are rock type.
