寮 (ryo@social.076.ne.jp)'s status on Monday, 19-Sep-2022 00:30:41 JST 寮 After having watched メイドラゴン (both seasons 1 and 2) as torrents, I decided to read the manga versions.
Went through the first 2 volumes, which story-wise is equal to the entire season 1 of the anime.
Some things I noticed is, in the anime they decided to move to another apartment after Kanna got introduced because it was getting too small for the 3 of them.
In the manga however, they just stayed at the same building, they never moved.
In the anime, Kanna would play with Saikawa a lot, but in the manga this didn't happen so far (based on the first 2 volumes), and Saikawa was only shown for a few pages bullying Kanna.
In the anime, Tooru's father came, took her back to their own world, Tooru disappeared for months, and it all ended in a fight between the 2.
In the manga, her father came and all that, but never got Tooru to go back to their own world, instead her father simply disappeared.
Also, Elma never appeared throughout the first 2 volumes, but she did appear in the 1st season, which I think is quite odd.
So I can actually see that there are quite some big changes between the 2 consoomer media of the same series.-

Terminal Autism (terminalautism@social.076.ne.jp)'s status on Monday, 19-Sep-2022 03:16:35 JST Terminal Autism @ryo I like comparing multiple versions of the same series, it's always fun. Particularly when there is an anime from the 90s or 2000s that is very different from the manga. I actually like what they did back in the day, just making up an anime version of the story and ending when they ran out of manga. In a way it's more interesting than fully faithful adaptations, because even if you read the manga first, you still have no idea where they're going.
And even when it was arguably not great, it was still interesting, and I'm a weirdo that doesn't care much about what is conventionally considered good writing. To me just having a good aesthetic is enough to save shows with flawed writing. Hell, I don't even need a plot, just give me characters I like and maybe some nice aesthetic elements and to me that's enough.
I have flexible tastes in general. I don't care about genres either, so everything can coexist in my brain. Cute girls and sports and cars going vroom and big guys punching each other and giant robots and depressing shows about characters that are just like me and more philosophical stuff exploring specific ideas, it's all in there. Makes recommending things to people kinda hard, actually, because they don't have that flexibility. Having the best taste in everything is suffering.寮 likes this. -

Beefki (beefki@noagendasocial.com)'s status on Monday, 19-Sep-2022 10:42:46 JST Beefki @ryo Kanna has a spinoff manga that may have more of the playing they put in the anime, no idea for sure as I didn't watch the anime nor read the spinoff.
As far as the other characters being introduced earlier I'd guess as a waifu anime they wanted to hook everyone ASAP
