Beefki@ryo Kanna has a spinoff manga that may have more of the playing they put in the anime, no idea for sure as I didn't watch the anime nor read the spinoff.
As far as the other characters being introduced earlier I'd guess as a waifu anime they wanted to hook everyone ASAP
