@coolboymew@Moon I had to search what a vtuber was. So what is the deal with these people, are they just ugly retards who like anime too much, or what? Why does anyone care about those people.
@eriner@Moon it's hard to explain the appeal, but it's a live2D or 3D cartoon avatar that can move according to a webcam checking your movements and other stuff you can program
Basically in some way it's a nice fuck you to the current youtube/streaming thing where you have to show your face to make it. Like that, you can stay anonymous
@coolboymew@eriner a lot of them stream video games or whatever so they're not really that different than any other streamer except they use a cartoon avatar. I'm neutral on the concept.
@Moon@eriner it's fine. But I really gotta stress that it does defeat the "You must show yourself to make it", which is a major win. Pekora is one of the most popular youtuber out there currently I believe
@eriner@coolboymew@Moon Autistic women who either like anine too much or want to skinwalk anime. They stream and so you can have a parasocial relationship with them. That is, they're like any other streamer except the wear anime instead of clothes.
@Moon Also, Japanese law is very strict about lewd content. Currently, misskey.io has an ML model bot that automatically marks content as "NSFW" so it complies with Japanese law, but that is probably a recent development . It is possible that SPC user's content were making its way onto misskey.io users accounts, and was not marked with the ActivityPub "content warning" flag, and SPC was blocked out of an abundance of caution.
@Moon There are a number of VTubers over there now with accounts created in the last 4 days. A lot are twitter "refugees". Could cause a problem. Still don't know why you would be blocked other than an interaction I had with a SPC account over a year ago but that was very cordial and complementary of how good Misskey is as an ActivityPub server and how good misskey.io is as an instance.
