A lot of people either purposefully misuse this Scripture or just don't understand it. This is one of the most common ones I see used against Christians along with the Matthew 5:38-40 and Matthew 7:1-3.
Non-Christians claim this verse means we have to just forgive and forget, not learn anything from the experience. What this verse is telling us is not to hold grudges, not to continuously reopen ourselves to the same exact thing by forgiving and forgetting. It also doesn't tell us to not dislike a person because of previous experiences, just don't hold a grudge because there's a chance it will fester and turn into something else.

My point the entire time has been, "That scripture is used by worldly people to excuse their abuses and to keep taking advantage of people while telling you to just take it." That is repeatedly opening yourself to abuse. I'm not arguing those verses say anything about repeatedly opening yourself up to abuse, I am arguing people *use them* to make Christians believe they are supposed to repeatedly opening themselves to the same exact abuse from the same people.
Those verses simply tell you how to handle situations, to handle everyone and everything with grace. Give to others, love others, don't hold anger in your heart over abuses but instead forgive them, so on and so forth. Not "keep going back to people who have shown they're going to repeatedly do this to you". That is where you have to look toward other verses on how we are meant to handle abusive or toxic relationships or people.
For instance:
Proverbs 22:24-25
Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
Proverbs 13:20
He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Romans 16:17-18
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple
Or even 2 Corinthians 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Again, my entire point is thay the quoted Scripture is about how to handle it when you get in certain situations and how to treat others. It is not, despite how worldly people use it and frame it, a command to constantly open yourself up to abuse from the same people time and time again.

> The world uses the bible to tear you down
They do, I've often seen this in the church.
@SapientPearwood
> Those verses do not say repeatedly go back and expose yourself to the same people that have already taken advantage of you/abused you
Honestly, I think that is exactly what He said. The examples He gives involve you NOT seeking justice, and repaying evil with good. You say that they "not say repeatedly" is actually adding to the text.
Overall this topic reminds me of a law that says, do not travel more than 3/5th of a mile from your home on the day of rest. The Israelites found this to be too burdensome, so they changed the interpretation to mean, from your possessions. And, started spreading their possessions out over the whole area they wished to be able to travel freely on the day of rest.
Jesus seemed to encounter lots of people who, by the massaging of interpretations thought they were sinless or perfect. He told one to give everything away, and the man couldn't for he trusted in his money more than God. To others Jesus told them, if you lust in your heart, or hate in your heart, then you are as guilty as the adulterer and murderer already.
Once Jesus told them to forgive their brother 7 times, or God would not forgive them. Another time, He increased it to 7 x 70, and the disciples cried out in shock! You can clearly see they didn't think that was possible.
These things shocked the people who heard them! These people who had rationalized and reworked God commandments into things they could easily keep. The security of their own works were stripped away by Jesus' words.
But now? Now people read these verses, and they go "oh, well I am just supposed to do my best! As long as I do my best that will please God!" Now... the very tool used to shock people out of relying upon their works to please God, has been subverted, made into reassurance even. People read the words of Jesus and think "Oh, well he actually meant this, and this, and you can definitely uphold these teaching if you see them from this direction."
And, really, I would not be here belaboring this point, except that it seemed important to Jesus, to disillusion anyone who thought they were keeping God's commandments in a way pleasing to God. So it must be of some consequence.
For if it were at all possible to please God with our earnest attempts, then Jesus would not have needed to die for us.

Honestly, I am not sure that is the correct interpretation given other things Jesus said:
Luke 6
>27But to you hearing I say: Love your enemies, do good to those hating you, 28bless those cursing you, pray for those mistreating you. 29To the one striking you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from the one taking away your cloak, do not withhold the tunic also. 30Give to everyone asking you, and from the one taking away what is yours, do not ask it back.
People always seem to want to make the teachings of Jesus into something they can keep, but "your God is perfect there for be perfect" is something everyone should realize is unachievable, almost like they are being warned away from the path they are trying to follow.

No body loves you like God. No body loves you like your parents and no body loves you like your people. The world uses the bible to tear you down while the true meaning of it is the word of God that loves you. Do people misuse others and sin against them ? They do. Because the world is fallen and people with it. Demonic possession wishes many things not to be, which are, and others to be , which are not: for out of envy, they would wish others to be damned, who are saved.
