Where do experience designers on Mastodon hang out. My current convos are skewed for technical, legal, AI topics.
Please mention and share generously. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip about #UXDesign.
I would not have thought to look for #DesignTwitter.
LinkedIn has me doing 😬 but in spirit of openness, I’ll check it out
@dahukanna The #UXDesign hashtag gets some use. But I haven't found much of a community or discussion on Mastodon around design. And #DesignTwitter, well, yeah. Not that you asked, but the best discussions I read on experience design on social media are on.... LinkedIn.
@dahukanna There's an account for @sustainoss here and that includes the #SOSDesign podcast.
@richlitt and @erioldoesdesign of that podcast are here.
@peterme @dahukanna My frustration with the hashtags are mostly used by people complaining about bad UX rather than by professionals. I've found #userResearch and #ContentDesign more reliably used by practitioners.
@resing @sladner @PavelASamsonov @peterme
Tom I’m still polishing ~cat~, er designer herding skills 😉
@PavelASamsonov @peterme @dahukanna I am sad to say, but after a few good months here, things like #designtwitter are totally dead. I’m not yet sure how this will all shake out but I am predicting—god help me— that LinkedIn will the place.
@sladner @PavelASamsonov @peterme @dahukanna there’s still hope! You can be a leader in this community. We will share!
@PavelASamsonov @peterme @dahukanna Now THAT? that is funny.
@sladner @peterme @dahukanna LinkedIn is a bit of a struggle, I posted a joke and 2 men have posted several paragraphs to explain that it's wrong
@dahukanna I'm not of that world, but I'm super curious now: what IS an experience designer? What kinds of experiences do you design?
@IPEdmonton I was being specific.
I’m looking for people interested in:
- people-centered design
- User eXPerience (UX) design
or
- Human Computer Interaction (HCI) design.
Usually these experiences are designed for software tools but can also be print, multimedia, gaming, etc.
@dahukanna i'm not sure how much @Miniver has been discussing UX over here, but i'm tagging b/c 1) his design posts elsewhere are awesome, and 2) he might have further directions to suggest here.
@dahukanna there might be a few people on https://hci.social/about
One of my follows is an accessibility designer @ microsoft: https://mstdn.social/@annaecook
The response to this question and appeal to find “community of interest & practice” has been incredible, generous, helpful and supportive. I’ll curate suggested list and hashtags to share later. Right now, gotta go do some work.
@thatdosbox thanks and will take a look.
@dahukanna you're welcome. I just came across https://mastodon.design/directory and it looks like there are a few UI & UX people there
@dahukanna Hi, one here. 👋 Although I don't post much (or “nada” actually) on the subject around here. Thanks for bringing up the topic, picked up a couple of very interesting links and tips in this thread already!
@dahukanna Now at a place where I’ve observed that UXD/HCI folk don’t tend to stick around. A social network built around a protocol is kind of like vampires trying to tough it out at a garlic farm.
Hi Mike, had plans this week to collect, curate and share the responses and accounts. Did not happen. Will share once I get this done.
@dahukanna @lisihocke howdy Dawn, I’m curious as well. I’m a UX designer in the software space living in Milwaukee.
