@coolboymew >Yes, the game has been historically rather ignored
uh.. paper mario series isn't good enough?
>8-bits to 64-bitsfags has been constantly getting losses and losses in general in the last few years where it looks like nobody cares about a lot of the oldfags franchises
what? oldfag franchises? mario hasn't been getting enough games? paper mario doesn't count?
maybe so called "8-bit to 64-bitfags" don't even want those remakes to begin with?
I mean best i know the only "impossibility" is that that game was sort of in legal limbo because it was made by enix or something, but enix is a japanese company and it's still around as part of square so it's far from impossible compared to, say, nintendo remaking Wand of Gamelon :harkinian:
>seriously? nintendo making a remake of their own old game is now considered impossible?
Yes, the game has been historically rather ignored and 8-bits to 64-bitsfags has been constantly getting losses and losses in general in the last few years where it looks like nobody cares about a lot of the oldfags franchises
This is literally an impossible happening that just happened and it looks premium on top of that
@i@coolboymew square is still around, it's a japanese companies, nintendo is still happy to work with other companies just not on "mainline" games (i.e. namco still makes mario kart arcade series) so it's far from being a wonder, given that square/enix are still around and being japanese company they can negotiate with nintendo, and mario rpg isn't "mainline"
@coolboymew@hj yeah the last good paper mario games is 19 years old, approaching 20. super paper mario wasn't even a rpg, just a platformer with quasi-rpg elements.
@Nelenese@hj From interviews that keeps coming out it's looking like the Mario mandate was always bullshit and it's just that the Paper Mario devs are retarded
@coolboymew@Nelenese i will literally never understand the obsession of nintendo fans with their subject, are they ALL just schizos? Nintendo remaking their old game (especially when zeitgeist of industry seems to be making unnecessary remakes) being impossible, nintendo having soul and a mandate or internal rules, making up timelines for zelda series, etc. etc.
It's most likely that some executive at nintendo saw that other companies are making quality 1:1 remakes of somewhat old games (dead space, re4, system shock) and looked over their catalogue of old games they could easily (they probably still have the silicon graphics 3d models from that era, or they just downloaded them from their own old leak or something like that lol) remake and decided on mario rpg, called squarenix and they said "sure whatever", so they went on with making it.
I mean I'd understand if they decided to make Mario RPG 2, that would be closer to "impossible" level, but that's a financial risk and actually requires creative effort. image.png
@coolboymew@hj "why does our rpg series based around meet funny and unique characters suddenly not having funny and unique characters not gain any interest anymore? guess we gotta kill the series and make cardboard games now"
@hj@coolboymew that's not the case. there's hardly any unqiue characters in post-super paper mairo games besides mario, bowser, peach and the throw-away-navi. there's no side characters, setting fodder or even comedic throwaways. It's literally just;
