I worked on the first Trek film ("Star Trek: The Motion Picture") but since it was in my opinion the worst film of the franchise, I wish I'd worked on "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" since I consider it to be the best film of the franchise. But you can't always get what you want. #startrek

Was this problem, or others noted today, apparent to the cast and crew while working on it?

Lauren Weinstein (lauren@mastodon.laurenweinstein.org)'s status on Friday, 02-Jun-2023 09:17:29 JST Lauren Weinstein @virtualbri @cazabon It was apparent from the moment I got my hands on the "rainbow" script. Slow slow slow. I've posted about this in the past, how I was one of the first to see the script and locked myself in the restroom to read it, and when I came out there was a little crowd going WELL? WELL? And I gave it a thumbs-down.

Lauren Weinstein (lauren@mastodon.laurenweinstein.org)'s status on Friday, 02-Jun-2023 09:17:33 JST Lauren Weinstein @virtualbri @cazabon I really wanted holographic displays (you guys finally got them!). Or at least rectangular ones. I finally convinced them that the round ones were inane, and they agreed to change, but it turned out they were already cast in fiberglass, and there was no budget to redo. So they stayed round.

For what it's worth, I agree with another poster who said that ST:V was by far the worst picture. Star Trek: The Motion Picture does grow on you with every showing.
I get that your experiences behind the scenes make it difficult to enjoy, but for me, it was one of the first few films I saw in a theater. I had to sit in the front row, staring up at this giant bald woman that towered over us from about ten feet away...

In retrospect, I could have done things differently and there might actually have been positive differences in the final product. Speculation, of course.
