     What distro were you trying out? If you're a newcomer to Linux from Windows I would recommend Linux Mint myself (pretty user friendly as far as Linux goes)

     @kroner @Flak i started jumping distros for fun in about 2013 but always moved back to windows because i know it and it just works, i actually like mint a lot but it broke on me many times, same thing with debian and arch, and the graphics were also broken because i have an nvidia card

     Ah, well dual booting is also a thing as well. If you really want to set it up you could run Windows AND Linux on the same system (best of both worlds)

     @dommymommy I actually don't dislike linux at all, i just prefer to be able to *actually do* stuff, instead of spending time fixing the system using an outdated way (terminal) every time it breaks because (why would you use an ui). The ability to run just double click and run an exe feels underrated in the ecosystem. .sh and appimages don't compare.

     @waifu I do miss just being able to install whatever application I want. it's really annoying to find the aur package name, or install the flatpak, or install from source, or just give up entirely and not use the damn program because it's too annoying to install or requires snap

     @dommymommy there are good things about it, like how you can trust the source of the program you're installing, so it's more difficult for you to install viruses, as there isn't a "I didn't check the page", but the sentiment expands to the whole thing. People don't make UI guides because there are too many DEs, so all the guides are on the terminal, so you're forced to use something that unlike UIs, isn't trivial to use.

     @waifu @Flak @kroner don't ? me it is true, it's not like gentoo where installing it takes like a day it's literally 20 minutes max, you partition the drive, you pacstrap all the base packages (linux, linux-firmware, etc, as seen on archwiki), you wait like 2 minutes for it to finish, you mount the root and boot partitions to /mnt and /mnt/boot, then arch-chroot /mnt and configure stuff like locale, sync clocks, set hostname, create user.
     
     then just grub-install or whatever and you're done, you can just install cinnamon or kde then and you just have to memorize the letters of pacman (-S install, -Syu upgrade, -Sy update package lists, -Ss search, -R remove, etc)
