Something like that yeah, but kiwifarms had accrued a lot of enemies by that point. They hosted dox, and a lot of gay ops came from over there etc. The fedposting was probably just an excuse to go after them imo.
We're a comfy instance, still dark fedi and going up in the rankings for defederations but we don't really do much past shitpost and laugh at dumb things. I doubt anything would gain much momentum against us, and even if it did we could just move servers and they'd have to start their little crusade all over again. The less we give a shit, the quicker they'll get bored and pick a new target. -

I get it we're a hell thread making pit of spergs. I like it here though haha, and I'll be sweeping the ship till it goes down. I don't think this'll be the one that does it, I hope it isn't at least.
We don't track IPs, so we'd just be saying ~"A random person called Enigma# said some stupid shit that broke the law and we disavow". But our actions should say that anyway, as his post was up for like 3 minutes before it was deleted.. Legally I think we're fine, if there's some kind of cancel brigade (like with Kiwi) then I guess we'll just take it one step at a time and laugh at them as it happens.
And yeah, I think that post glowed like fuck personally. -

Fair assessment. I know I had a bit of a rough patch with CB but the last thing I want is for you guys to go dark because soemone’s being a complete sperg.
It’s a precarious perch to dwell on though. I’m not in favor of snitching at all but if that happened on my instance I’m not exactly sure I wouldn’t report the person doing it to the feds just to fuck with them harder than a random retard making threats would try to fuck with me by making said threats.
If you do that, you look like a snitch. If you don’t do that, there’s no long-term repercussions. But who are we kidding? The likelihood that it was a fed anyway is pretty up there.

The fact that it went so hard, so fast, with no escalation and pictures stolen ready to go for the posts makes it seem like a malicious actor wanted investigative crumb trails to lead to the guy who posted the picture of the gun so it could cause even more confusion.
I guess a great thing to keep track of now would be to see if this happens on other instances, but I can’t imagine why they’d choose Chudbuds. Unless of course, they’re a user who got yeeted. Really stupid game to be playing just because they got the broom.

Yeah, there was no build up at all. Only post on the account, within about an hour of it being accepted. If it's true that they tried to archive it, then it was definitely malicious.

It's a very dangerous game to be playing too, I mean it's obvious that they were involved with the threats if they're the one who tried to broadcast the post within ~3 minutes during a dead time of night. Whether the motive was to somehow implicate us or not, they're gonna look worse than us and the feds aren't gonna give a fuck if they slipped up their opsec somewhere lol. Maybe it's the same gimp that bruteforced my account the other night, another recent attack that failed within minutes lmao. -

Yeah, within 5 minutes of the first account getting deleted we'd pulled the plug on the account. Total damages were 2 profiles being briefly deleted, one deactivated, and a bit of profile defacement. Seemed like they had a grudge against one user in particular, they went for him even before going for the admin.
Claire took the server down just incase is was bigger than one broom account (we really don't have much power lol), as she was streaming at the time. All fixed up pretty quickly, we got new brute force protections out of it and everyone from peach to Jim laughed at me having shitty account security for a day. -

I had it linked to a gmail with 2 step verification, that e-mail wasn't touched. Changed the linked e-mail and passwords on everything, just incase. And yeah, I think Claire went through the logs to check.
I use a password manager so I can't remember how shit it was, but it was only 7 characters so safe to say not great. -

If the post got archived beyond screenshots then it’s without a doubt a set-up, and I recommend glancing at archive.is for anything Chudbuds-related by using their search tool. Someone clearly wanted to cause trouble regardless, but the scope of the trouble is unknown. Was it a one-off? Was it a set-up? Hard to tell right now. Like you said, you guys are small fish which likely means this was a personal vendetta. If I was Chudbere I’d even look into establishing a warrant canary for Chudbuds, yes even over something small like this. You’d want your people to know if Chudbud-related data is being scrutinized.

False flags in a low-trust environment like ours would make a lot of sense and would be perfect in a place where the admins aren’t tracking data, as you said about Chudbuds. Now that that info is out in the open (that you guys don’t track data), I can’t help but wonder if that’s something the guy was looking for too, to see what he could get away with beyond this in the future. I’d take the bastard seriously, to set an example.

Not sure how bad the old password was, I usually don't use words but it was originally just an alt account before it became my main. They could've also been trying all the brooms and mine was just the weakest link. My e-mail wasn't touched though, that has 2 step verification on, so it pretty much had to be done through CB. We're more secure now, so I guess it was grey hat whether intentional or not lol. -
