Someone clearly wanted to cause trouble regardless, but the scope of the trouble is unknown. Was it a one-off? Was it a set-up? Hard to tell right now. Like you said, you guys are small fish which likely means this was a personal vendetta. If I was Chudbere I’d even look into establishing a warrant canary for Chudbuds, yes even over something small like this. You’d want your people to know if Chudbud-related data is being scrutinized.

False flags in a low-trust environment like ours would make a lot of sense and would be perfect in a place where the admins aren’t tracking data, as you said about Chudbuds. Now that that info is out in the open (that you guys don’t track data), I can’t help but wonder if that’s something the guy was looking for too, to see what he could get away with beyond this in the future.
