Hey Mastodon...
If you could add one new feature to Mastodon, what would it be?
EXCLUDING "quote toots"!!!
(We all know how everyone feels about that by now.)

@Mrfunkedude a question everyone who sends you a follow request has to answer
@schratze Oooooo that WOULD be cool.
@Mrfunkedude be able to follow or like people on other instances without all the extra steps. Make those steps invisible on user end.
I don't want quote toots but would like the functionality of adding both boost and reply at once and let the thread go its own way just like reporters want. I'm sure there are downsides I'm not aware of.
Something realistic: a better android app.
Something far far away: a search function
@Mrfunkedude
Um. Something having to do with butts?
@SpinozasHeresy THATS IT! CLOSE DOWN THE THREAD!! WE HAVE FOUND THE ONLY GOOD ANSWER!!!
@Mrfunkedude when i click on a post, to view it's replies, it should reach out and actually find everyone who's replied to that thread and pull their posts, not just folks you've already federated with before.
I follow people where i will click on a post that has 5 replies. Then open the original post, on the origin website, and there will be 500 posts.
@xorowl that WOULD be cool.
@Cbfoley the herpes of the craft world!
@Mrfunkedude Glitter!
@Mrfunkedude I'd like the ability to add cw's to toots that I boost. I feel like it might be too close to quote boosts though.
@coffeecat I've thought of that too.
@Mrfunkedude
A 'surprise me' button that picks a random toot from a random instance from say the last hour. For those after work exhausted but bored moments when i cant think of any fun hashtags to search
@Mrfunkedude Basic HTML markup. (Including a butt tag. I have no idea what it would do, but it must be there.)
@Mrfunkedude A way to subscribe to a thread so that each new reply to that thread appears in my timeline. (Maybe allow deadlines like with filters?)
Rationale: I often encounter an interesting thread & read all posts available at that time. Ideally, I would now like to "follow" it (similar to GitHub issues or Discourse forum threads).
Workaround: bookmark the starting post & *try* to remember to check by later. But finding the new posts among the old ones is really cumbersome.
@Mrfunkedude *MUCH* better filtering tools.
@Mrfunkedude markdown support for post formatting
@Mrfunkedude@mastodon.social
1. sparkle animations around mouse cursors
2. autoplay MIDI version of Cartoon Heroes by Aqua running on a loop in the background
3. dancing banana emoji
4. hyperlink your user name to a funny picture, like a frog wearing a cowboy hat
5. every week there is a secret "magic word" and the first person to stumble upon it gets the ability to change anyone's pfp
@andiesophia I vote for all of the above
@Mrfunkedude Get rid of the 4 image limit. Or up it to something like 20 or 30.
@Mrfunkedude I’d like the ability to add missing alt text to posts I boost —maybe with a little passive aggressive notification back to the original poster giving them the option to accept the added alt text via an edit.
@Mrfunkedude Emoji reactions.
@Mrfunkedude I kinda want Spaces! I was in some radical ones form birdsite, it would be awesome if ppl did that again. There probably is a foss alternative that I just don't know about
@Mrfunkedude
I miss GIFs.
@madrobin Not really. Gifs are compressed, and there's a limit on video length and size.
At least I've never heard that and I use gifs all of the time.
@Mrfunkedude I read that videos/GIFs hog up server space.
