God tells Jacob to go and everyone does a spring cleaning of all of their ungodly things and they bury it under a big oak tree.
5 As they set out, a terror from God fell over the surrounding cities, so that they did not pursue Jacob’s sons.
This is shortly after Jacob's sons played an epic prank where they got their neighbors to circumcise themselves then cut them down and massacred and ransacked the whole town when the men were in agony. This was of course in response to rape, so it's not like they didn't have something coming their way. God once again reminds him of his family covenant and that his new name is Israel. He goes to see his dad who then dies at 180.

Jacob's daughter, Dina, goes to visit some girls in the land near her house. A boy, Shechem, rapes her and kidnaps her, wanting to make her his wife. Jacob hears of this but doesn't do anything because his sons are out in the fields. They come back and are pissed, and the boy's father, Hamor, approaches and tried to make peace. Jacob's sons say "no can do! We can't let our sister marry an uncircumcised guy! We'll only allow it on one condition— every man in the town has to get circumcized!" Hamor goes back to town and gets everyone to do it because it would mean intermarrying with a lot of wealth from Jacob's stuff. They all agree, and three days later the two oldest sons (Simeon and Levi) show up with swords and kill all the men who are still in pain. The rest of the boys swoop in and loot everything in the city and take all the livestock and take the women and children as slaves. Jacob is pissed because they basically destroyed a whole town and he gets the other people around will realize they're troublemakers. The brothers reply "are we supposed to just let him treat our sister like a prostitute?"

Jacob sees Esau coming with his army of 400 men and freaks out. He divides his group and puts his servant-wives in the front with their kids as fodder followed by Leah then Rachel and Joseph in the rear. He goes on ahead to meet Esau and bows down before him seven times. Esau sees him and runs up and gives him a hug and is super excited to see his brother. He then asks Jacob who all these people are with him and why all the gifts. Jacob replies that they're his children and wives and his livestock and that God has blessed him greatly. Esau said he's doing great too and doesn't need his stuff. Jacob insists and Esau takes them before pressuring him to return with him. Jacob protests because he has a bunch of young cattle and young children who can't march at Esau's pace. Esau says he'll leave some men with him to watch him, and Jacob says no because he just wants to go at a leisurely pace. Eventually they depart and Jacob keeps on moving before buying some land and building a house in Canaan.

Jacob arrives at his uncle's house and sees them shepherding weirdly. He tried to :Ackshually: but then he stops when he sees a qt3.14 that he wants to make his wife, Rachel. He agrees to work for his uncle for 7 years in exchange for Rachel's hand in marriage, but he ends up getting hornswoggled by his uncle and he marries her older less qt sister, Leah. He gets mad but the uncle insists it's the custom to marry the older sisters before the younger. He agrees to give him Rachel next week if he works for him for another 7 years (oy vey). Maybe that's what he gets for lying to his brother. Leah is unloved but God makes her fertile and blocks Rachel from conceiving. Leah has a son named Reuben which means "Look, a son", then has more children: Simeon, Levi (attach/connect, because she thought after three sons her husband would finally love her), and finally Judah (praise) saying "this time I will praise the Lord".

Isaac is getting old and is now blind anddying. He calls for Esau, his firstborn son, and asks him to go and catch some wild game and cook him a meal. Isaac's wife, Rebecca, overheard this and immediately goes to work to make sure that Jacob gets the blessing. Jacob protests since he is a smooth-skinned man unlike his hairy brother, but Rebecca knows has a plan. They go and kill two young kid goats and cook them as a meal for Isaac, and Jacob wears the goat skins on his arms so that Isaac will feel the fur. Jacob also wears Esau's musky hunting clothes. When he serves him the meal and wine, Isaac is very satisfied but is confused— he's pretty sure it's actually Jacob rather than Esau because of his voice. There's a moment where he feels his furry arms and smells the scent of Esau's clothes. Maybe it was a combination of the convincing disguise and wine or uncertainty in his own mental faculties from failing health, but he gives Jacob the blessing originally intended for his firstborn. Esau comes back and is fuming mad and wants to kill his brother. Isaac gives him a lesser blessing saying that he'll live by the sword and he blessed by the fatness of the earth and will eventually brake the yoke his brother puts upon him. Rebekah sends Jacob away because she doesn't want him philandering with Canaanites like Esau, nor does she want Esau to murder him.
When I first read this chapter, I remember thinking that Jacob acted like kind of a dick. I was more mad at Rebekah for coordinating everything. Rereading it now, I think it was obviously the right choice. Esau didn't care about the commandments of his father and mother nor God. They were specifically not supposed to marry and have kids with Canaanite women, yet here he was. He cared so little for the blessing of his father that he was willing to trade it for beans (red lentil stew). Think about that. This dude grows up in what is basically a super rich household with tons of servants and likely thousands of head of cattle, and he's like "yeah I'm just gonna go screw around innawoods and get some 3️⃣ Canaanite women 3️⃣ ". Not good! He would have defiled the blessing had he received it, and God had already declared to Rebekah what was to happen with the older serving the younger.
