If you use #Substack, did you know that you can switch to @buttondown with more features? And the migration looks pretty easy. I might offer this as a service.

Why do some people have blue check marks on Mastodon? Are they meaningful here?
(No, my owl doesn’t signify much except that I like owls and played one once in a play.)
@Mrfunkedude There are a number of people I've chatted with personally who are dumbfounded by the idea that everyone else isn't also liking, following, and commenting transactionally. One even asked me why everyone was on social media then, like what was the point.
To clarify: Since blogging and then social media took off over the last 20 years, I've been approached several times by people wanting to know why others aren't liking their posts or following back as much as they are with the idea that everyone is supposed to like their stuff the same number of times. I tell them that likes and follows aren't transactional and they're not accountants, and 100% of the time they say this is a new idea and they just don't get it. I don't know why they come to me.
Treating follows as transactional is weird.
@Mrfunkedude I wouldn't eat it. They touched it too much.
@Mrfunkedude The escalation to death threats always seems a little nuclear to me. Why are people like this?
@Mrfunkedude I'm cheering on the antibiotics.
