That feels like an interesting implementation but I’m not convinced this needs to be solved at the application layer. An idling raspberry pi 3 pulls ~1.5w, some hardware likely gets that below 1w at idle, and I’d applicable for all use-cases, not just a bespoke AP implementation.

As someone whose day job is competing with AWS’s core business, I can say pretty definitively that there’s still plenty of room in a market after they enter it. The awesome teams at digital ocean, linode, vultr, and a host of others can confirm.

Fediverse is an especially rich market for “not Amazon” given built-in hostility to that particular provider in the community.

Are you using the eck operator? I don’t remember it being super involved last time I worked with it.
