I'm planning on trying #DeltaChat, how important is it to try to distribute the load accross chatmail servers? If it's worth distributing it, are there any servers in France? The list from https://chatmail.at/relays does not include anything but I don't know whether it's comprehensive.
I've been using virtual environments for quite some time, but I might be missing some standard feature because switching env is a pain: I have to be in the right folder (where the venv dir was created) or manually configure a shell script. Is there a tool that can provide me with the equivalent of ``envswitch envname`` regardless of the folder I'm in?
1. this seems completely non-accessible 2. I think it requires more detailed instructions - how precisely must the shape match? (some examples have a hand-drawn shape, some are zoomed in to show there is a slight inconsistency, though the shape is almost good... are they correct, are they not?) - must it be a single buildings or are multiple buildings OK?
Hey @monocles I wanted to say that the sticker support in Chat looks quite nice and usable, thanks for that! (one of the required features to move friends over)
However, when I tried to import stickers from Signal, though Chat is recognized to open the link and it says "download started", nothing seems to happen afterwards. Sending the stickers also does not seem to be well supported in other #XMPP apps, where it shows only a link.
@fediversity what's the benefit of Owncast compared to PeerTube for livestreaming if you're not self-hosting? This is a real question, I don't know much about it and always thought its main advantage was being small and easy to maintain, which people usually don't care about if someone is doing the maintenance for them, which is what you are proposing if I understand correctly.
@clacke ah, maybe I misunderstood what's happening with OpenCollectives... I just saw that the foundation was disbanding and some people are looking for alternative options but I think it's again a case where there is a foundation and a company? https://blog.opencollective.com/fiscal-hosting-options @servo@josh
@josh I wonder what's the plan given that open collectives is closing down... @servo do you plan on opening something like a LiberaPay account? I imagine that having GH sponsoring only may prevent many people here from supporting you.
@maltimore I see: it's less false in Julia, hence the lowercase "false", instead of the capitalized "False" in Python. Definitely going in the right direction!
Question for the #Linux and #accessibility communities: if I want to send some money into the development of the linux accessibility stack, are there specific organizations or people that I can donate to?
Note that I want this money to specifically fund accessibility work, so a general donation to GNOME, for instance, is not what I am looking for ;) (of course for individual people I do not expect them to dedicate 100% of their time to accessibility).
@fediversereport Seems neat but I could not find a lot of information regarding how it's actually implemented (and I did not have time to check the code)... Is it P2P or does it use something like jitsi in the background?
@apps I miss the old layout/UI, especially for posts (notably the absence of left margin on the text, below the avatar of the person who posted, and the more legible CWs)
I post mostly in English, about #sustainability, the #EnvironmentalCrisis and the #environment, #SurveillanceCapitalism, and #FLOSS.I've an alt @silmathoron where I do the same, only in French.I tend to boost a lot, so don't hesitate to mute my boosts if you feel overwhelmed (three dots on my profile > "Hide boosts from @silmathoron")Most of my posts are automatically deleted after a year.#fedi22
