@morpheo Oh hell, you know what? I love RSS! I'm still astonished when major sites don't have an option, but also disappointed so many friends don't use RSS feed readers and such. But yes, if I could just rely on everyone thinking like us, that'd be problem solved haha!
Does anyone have any recommendations for the best, simplest, slickest plugin for #WordPress to allow visitors to subscribe for updates on the site? So many seem more Mailchimp-like, and I'm not wanting anything so elaborate - just enable visitors to pop in an email address and, zap, they get an update on new content.
Don't get me wrong: It's good if individuals do "their part" in tackling the climate crisis, by changing their habits and lifestyles, but blaming them, when its clearly the #capitalist system's fault is just wrong.
Be #vegan, consume sustainably, ride your #bike, don't fly. There are many good reasons to do so, e.g.: 👉 it's the right thing to do 👉 it's healthy 👉 you're a role-model for others 👉 if many people do this, it slightly changes how companies act. 👉 it fosters your awareness for the issues
But also be aware that its a droplet on a hot stone. Non-wealthy individuals won't fix the climate with their daily choices. We have to *demand* action by the big players. And I don't mean blame China! All of us need to demand radical climate action by our governments.
And for the record, there's no real debate among reasonable experts: multiple COVID infections are bad. To the extent that there's *any* reasonable disagreement among experts it's over a very narrow range of extreme badness— from more likely to suffer permanent damage to vital organs (lungs, heart, kidneys, brain) ➡️ more likely to end up dead. I wouldn't want anyone to get the impression that "you'll be perfectly fine" is part of the debate because it most definitely is not.
Late Stage Capitalism of course turns to fascism in its last gasps, and this was symbolised rather well when right-wing billionaire Elon Musk bought Twitter to turn it not just into something he calls X, but a haven for his friends like Andy Ngo and other members of the far right. I arrived here on Mastodon several years ago, but still departed that site only after Musk's purchase. I'm saddened and disappointed by some of the people I witness remaining there still now. I get that some built followings. I had over 3,000 followers on there. But at what point do your principles take over? I mean that place is now Parler or Trump Social or whatever. #Twitter#ElonMusk#fascism#Nazism#LateStageCapitalism#LateCapitalism
