So you wonder what you can do…
Get involved in local elections- they matter! Maybe it’s just phone calls or texts but do it! If you can do door to door canvassing that’s better.

Supporting your progressive school board candidate or Ward/City Council member is important! These are the people who support schools and libraries. And trust me when I say, these are other areas the right wing is aiming for!!! They are not just gunning for the presidency & federal control.

@roadriverrail there’s a whole lot of woo out there that has nothing to do with religion. My roommate listens to a lot of YouTube videos that are on aliens and a lot of that leads down an anti-government/ conspiracy rabbit hole. Did the government use alien technology to go to the moon? To develop the internet? It gets dark pretty quickly.

You know what was always going to help TFG win? Internal bickering.
If Biden hadn’t quit when he did, the age thing would have raged on as would have Gaza.
So he fell on his sword. If the party had tried to nom someone else-the chaos would have done the work & also Gaza (that was always going to be a Russ tool against Dems). So Biden chose the next in line who was SO incredibly qualified. And she had to fight misogynoir, Gaza & a very short election season.

Giving money to private Christian schools was a horrible plan and it’s great this failed. Public schools are already struggling due to white flight to suburban areas.

@GottaLaff it may not change FL from red to blue but it may make a huge difference in some congressional elections! This is so great!

@GottaLaff Heather Cox Richardson pointed out that the ambiguity of the ruling- what is official & unofficial will almost certainly only apply to GQP presidents and would be a trap for any Dem President who stepped over the boundary of what they viewed as acceptable behavior. Anyone who thinks this gives all presidents immunity is naive. It gives Trump & other Republicans immunity. So it won’t be self imposed- it will be self preservation. Biden knows who will be looking over his shoulder.

@StillIRise1963 this is literally everyone's problem. Literally everyone wants the problems to be solved their way NOW. They have no clue about governance.
I have a problem at work and one that I knew about- I should have pushed back on it years ago. I am most likely NOT going to solve it for the person I want to solve it for now. I may not solve it at all, but I have been & will continue to push things in the right direction so MAYBE someone will say, hey this should change for the better.

I asked a man for his ID so I could make him a computer use card (needed if you want to use the computer for more than 20 min. for the day) and he responds“do you also need a note from my mother?”

@Mrfunkedude my daughter makes mad money (she’s a finance manager for car sales) I told her to invest her money so she’s not paying so much in taxes but she didn’t know what I meant. She works with other men who make that kind of money (I don’t) but apparently they didn’t tell her how she could invest to avoid paying taxes on it?

When I was thinking about what classes to take in high school (in the early 80s I think) my dad told me to take typing because it was useful- you can always find a job as a secretary. A woman can is the qualifier there. He of course never told my brothers that. No one asked what I was going to be or do. I was forced to go to the Mennonite college my parents wanted me to go to. There was no real consideration of cost or what I wanted to do- it was about the people I’d be around

I think they hoped I would find a nice Mennonite guy to marry. Instead college was a time to find my radical roots. I was a music/theater major but I also took a class on social injustice and other such topics (Mennonites like to discuss those issues- peace and such) I wrote a piece on how class had affected my college experience. It could have been way harder hitting! Because racism was a much bigger issue. I left college without any real direction. Was I going to act? Find a husband? Sing? ?

Where am I going with all this? My brothers were encouraged to do whatever they did and they both fell forward. I was discouraged to do much of anything.
I have succeeded in spite of what I was told I could do. I don’t make much money cause of course I am still a woman in a woman’s field (libraries). And that’s what a LOT of women do #today Here’s to women! #womanshistorymonth
