If someone's not respecting your boundaries, it doesn't matter if they're genetically related or not.
It's still a harm to you.

This whole article about family estrangement is written from the perspective that 'family' is inherently a mandatory relationship.
The innovation that those of us who -are- estranged from our families have had to develop is that -no- relationship is mandatory - you can, in fact, structure all your relationships around specific consent to be in them.
So yes. Absolutely normalize enforcing boundaries, "even with" people who you happen to be related to.
Absolutely normalize "estranging" people who refuse to treat with you as an equal.
Absolutely normalize ending relationships that cause you harm.
Now, if it was truly unintentional - accidents do happen! - then a discussion and an apology, well, that's why those things were invented.
But if they're refusing to acknowledge that it was a transgression "because we're family" - honey, that is the reddest of flags.
It doesn't matter if it "was done out of love"
It's still - stay with me here - a harm to you.
Also, y'know, just dig in a wee bit to see who's really benefitting from mandating coerced relationships - it's basically a way to continue assimilation of power in a regressive, patriarchal system that does not regard women or children as being "people" and denies them basic agency and ability to consent, so. Y'know.
Maybe don't feed that system.
It's tough, yes. It hurts like hell, yes.
But it is -so- fucking worth it.
that's how iptables does it iirc, aye
Tarpitting is much more fun :3
Just imagine the attack surface of a -dns- problem getting propagated down into -routing- it's gonna be complete fucking chaos
oh this is gonna make -so- many shenanigans possible holy shit
Be still my heart <3
...ooh, greylisting* potential phishing domains and automatically interdicting the AS for the whole network. That's a tasty one.
* really ought to come up with an updated name for the technique. and something new with it; it's been a while.
Anyway imagine an adblocker that could tarpit adserver connections aggressively
I wonder which CDN is behind this proposal.
Oh hey, you could make anything headed for a specific set of domains pass through a monitoring proxy.
.......honestly, you wouldn't need an extension to DNS to do a lot of the fun shit; you can instrument the.....
.....hm.
oh, does this require an i*Phone?
Have just had it pointed out to me that an anagram of "transgender" is "strange nerd" and how the fuck did I not see that one years ago
......yyyyeah imagine the quality of discourse generally is a bit more amenable to being able to -have- a conversation over here.
