OK team, our #faircamp "service" is public. Artists will share, embed, link their own urls, albums, rss, etc.

There are many things this self-contained solution is NOT, a social, shopping cart, federated, or a directory.

But, so you can see what is possible and for those that will traverse the urls, we've made an index.

@SrRochardBunson In our own experience we don't enjoy the time sink, clunk and difficulty using it when submissions are offered via it. It does not help enforce good meta or attribution data as well.

It is not comfortably usable, extendable, efficient, well federated, or easily discoverable front-end for artists and labels.

Smashing donation links into it or trying to integrate a shop into the experience might not be on balance healthy

Very much an online personal jukebox at the core.

A federated but hosted and managed resource for artists to join would be a nightmare for regulatory mess and agreed upon fiscal disbursing method.

No self hosting is simple for all.

There isn't an obvious platform to bolt on to. There are many possibilities, all will hit artists' ability to navigate or ethically tolerate very differently.

Sadly, "just make a fedi bandcamp" is kind of fingernails on chalkboard message to get.

We don't want music lovers' power to discovery, listen and support artists to be diminished or fragmented.

It's a masto importable csv file we update whenever we do a welcome new artists to the station post.

It's a great way to get a whole heap of amazing sound artists into your feed and explore, enjoy or pare down to your tastes. It has proven useful for artist networking and collab as well.

Massive TY to the friends that in a day made it an option to replace our daily driver we'd go without were it not for RFF, just as RFF would not be scaling or existing without the amazing team of infrastructure patrons.

Embarrassingly we got the currency conversion/shipping wrong.

In a chat hangout today a comment to a german artist was roughly "not quite sure what you are saying but love the vibe and the sound"

That was a great little hangout with some awesome friends, artists, station announcers, listeners.

It's so nice to just be in a space with folks who appreciate the music, the artists, the community, each other. Let's keep that going.

We are working on some cool events to use the video/chat channel for and we will also try to have more regular just chat hangouts synced to different channels for fun and comradery.

As alluded in previous post, IRL has been harassing "team" RFF coupled with our lappy being beyond further repair.

We are alternative method working through the queue to get you an update this weekend.

We are hustling towards a modest but solid replacement device to allow RFF work to continue at pace.
