lol 90% of my feed right now are toots of Twitter error messages about exceeding some daily limit nobody knew about. Which is the buggy and unreliable platform, now? ?

Jorge Caballero, MD (datadrivenmd@fedified.com)'s status on Friday, 03-Feb-2023 04:04:15 JST Jorge Caballero, MD Mastodon isn't anyone's house. It's an open source social media network. Anyone that contributes content shares equal ownership over this place.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Don't buy the b.s. that you're supposed to give away your stake in this place to some idealized notion of norms that either a) never existed or b) only exist in the memories of others.
Don't buy the b.s. that your preferences don't matter. They absolutely do.

Jorge Caballero, MD (datadrivenmd@fedified.com)'s status on Friday, 03-Feb-2023 04:03:53 JST Jorge Caballero, MD Mastodon isn't a sociocultural Ponzi scheme: you don't owe the top of the pyramid jack squat. The early movers *need* you more than you need them.
Ignore the virtue signalers in your mentions trying to tone police your valid feedback based on their ::checks notes:: two months on this platform.
*You* are the reason there are developers excited to build great apps for Mastodon.
*You* are the reason that creators are trying to make Mastodon work for them, so they can post great content, here.

Thanks for listening, and thanks for following.

Jorge Caballero, MD (datadrivenmd@fedified.com)'s status on Thursday, 02-Feb-2023 14:24:55 JST Jorge Caballero, MD @Gargron @wjmaggos It's just a minor bug in the obfuscateCounter logic. The underlying counts are accurate, but the way they're reported makes it seem like there's less engagement because the front-end defaults to obfuscating the counts. I honestly thought it was an intentional decision to default to obfuscated counts until I saw someone complain about engagement earlier. It's a quick fix, I'll submit a PR after a I grab a bite to eat.

Jorge Caballero, MD (datadrivenmd@fedified.com)'s status on Thursday, 02-Feb-2023 13:56:42 JST Jorge Caballero, MD We're all aware that Mastodon ships with a bug that under-reports the number of replies, boosts, and likes, right?
Seriously: I thought everyone knew, and that it was just sort of accepted by the community at large.
