i love https://popcornhall.com it's a website just for those weird pressure vessel popcorn makers that you heat up and release all the pressure, popping all the corns at once, and also sketchy high power lasers for some reason
@cwebber Their TOS and community guidelines include:
These Terms only apply to social networking that happens on Bluesky. If you’re using another social networking application on the AT Protocol that isn’t Bluesky Social (a “Developer Application”), the terms and conditions of that Developer Application will govern your experience. We are not responsible for the content or practices of Developer Applications.
once again federation is a total afterthought to the bsky team.
@cwebber one interesting element of this is Aveta is on blacksky, which i understand to be a completely independent service provider. So this user is being emailed that they are in violation of a TOS that they arguably aren’t even party to.
once you identify that knife guy knives are primarily fidget toys, you see it everywhere. zippo sells a multitool you can put in their lighter case because no one smonks ciggies anymore but they want to play with a zippo anyway
I’m gonna try to wear a different watch each day until i run out. Kicking this off is the Timex Chronograph. A quartz chronograph can be pretty useful day to day, especially with the tachymeter scale (which is one thing that no digital watch i know of does), and i’m a huge fan of the cream dial and soft indiglo illumination #wristcheck
today i have my newest (to me) watch on. A 1969 Bulova Accutron 214 Railroad. This is a real joy of a watch to me. It represents an inflection point in personal timekeeping. Trains were responsible for accurate pocketwatches becoming common, largely because of a wreck in Kipton, Ohio. This watch pretty much marks the end of that era, where in-cab signals took over for accurate adherence to timetables. At the same time, the tuning fork movement is the immediate predecessor to quartz. It uses a steel tuning fork and a tiny single transistor feedback loop to keep it ringing. Each vibration pushes a tiny gear with a tiny finger, 360 times per second. This gives it one of the smoothest possible sweeping second hands. This example is running +4 sec/day at the moment but i’ve only made a rough adjustment so far. #wristcheck
here’s the soviet made raketa big zero. i took one look and loved the bold design. these can be had for very little money, but its somewhat hard to find them with the correct hands installed
i took a photo today and forgot to post it. today is #casioCult day with the protrek. it has baro-altimeter-compass-temp features and is my second best timekeeping watch (which is actually really impressive, i had to make sure it wasn’t cheating with radio waves or something when i started tracking it). glow in the dark inner band and a pretty cool uv backlight. easily the most featured packed watch i have
