@freemo I get what you’re saying, but it’s not an apples-to-apples comparison. People might frown upon cis gender affirmation that they see as vanity, but people are quite literally - and, frankly, genocidally - calling for the “eradication of transgenderism from public life.” In this way, public perception of cis and trans gender-affirming care are not the same. Not even close.

@freemo Plus, trans gender-affirming care shows a dramatic benefit with regard to suicide prevention. Cis gender-affirming care tends to improve quality of life - which is still important! - more than survival per se.

Cis men get Viagra, testosterone, and penile prostheses. Cis women get breast augmentations.

It’s ALL gender-affirming care.

Yet so many people’s objections to gender-affirming care don’t kick in until it goes against the gender binary. 🧐

Singular “they” dates back to 1375. It predates singular “you” and it’s old enough to have been spelled with a thorn.

Objections to singular “they” have nothing to do with grammar - and everything to do with imposing a rigid, exclusionary gender binary.
