    This article conveniently leaves out that the 'private collection' that these Benin Bronzes were returned to is actually the collection of the current Oba (King) of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, not just some random guy. As the Benin Bronzes were stolen from the Royal Palace in Benin City by the Brits in 1897 when an ancestor of Ewuare II was still on the throne, doesn't it make sense to return them to the current Oba? The Bronzes were originally crafted specifically for the Kings of Benin as well as far as I know.

    This article also left out that with 'vanish into a private collection' they just meant that Oba Ewuare II was made the legal owner of the Benin Bronzes. The Governor of the Edo State has already said they're planning to build an 'Edo Museum of West African Art' in Benin City where the Bronzes can be put on display with the King's consent.

    Imagine that British artifacts were stolen which belonged to the British royal family, and 1-2 centuries later the artifacts were returned specifically to the descendants of that same royal family. Wouldn't they be the legitimate owners of the artifacts?
