VP Harris will be certifying Electoral College votes today for a man whose VP called her “trash”. Think on that a moment. For a man who himself is not worthy of the Presidency and who called her “a low-IQ individual”. The equanimity she will be showing today on January 6th, 2025 will be heroic.
I still think she should skip the inauguration and instead do volunteer work alongside Pres. Joe Biden in honor of MLK, Jr. Day, which will fall in the same date.
@WarnerCrocker I'd like to see Australian journalist Jonathan Swan ask him that question. Most US journalists are cowardly.
@skinnylatte @Moss I'm still getting used to my air fryer. (It was an unexpected gift from my in-laws last Xmas). It sort of feels redundant. But I'm learning how to use it to simplify meal prep from time to time.
@Moss @skinnylatte I just air-fryed 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, something I do whenever I don't feel like dirtying up a sauté pan and splattering oil everywhere. The results are always moist and crispy. But, I concede that I do love the taste of stir-fried chicken in my wok.
This is what veneration of the rich (with a side of bigotry) by the working class and by the working poor gets you.
@skinnylatte I just had stewed eggplant with okra and tomatoes -- cold -- for breakfast today. Recipe from "Japanese Plant-Based Cooking" by Yumiko Kano. Your black bean sauce w/black noodles sounds like a perfect breakfast to me.
@_L1vY_ Smart. My husband and I just got our renewed Global Entry cards. I just got a tetanus shot, that was bundled with whooping cough vaccine, which was unexpected but much appreciated. Our other vaccines (flu & covid) are all up to date. I pray all parents with babies and young children will still be able to get all the vaccines they need during these next few years.
An important and fascinating new book for anyone interested in American history, the Hudson Valley, Dutch colonialism and slavery, “A Hudson Valley Reckoning: Discovering the Forgotten History of Slaveholding in My Dutch American Family“ by Debra Bruno.

"The idea is that Democrats win presidential elections when the economy is performing badly, because voters want the strong safety net that Democrats promise. Republicans win elections when the economy is performing well, because voters don’t worry so much about the safety net and care more about low taxes, which they associate with Republicans." --Peter Coy, NYT, "Is It Possible the Democrats Were Hurt by a Strong Economy?" Theory is from L. Pastor & P. Veronesi, Chicago U finance professors
@DemocracyMattersALot So what this implies is that voters don't reward Democrats for past performance and they don't look retrospectively when voting. Instead, they look prospectively at upside potential for their incomes & stock portfolios etc. The irony is that Republicans tend to trash the economy, requiring voters to then look for the safety net the Dems typically can offer them.
@WarnerCrocker I thought that's what FL was???
@WarnerCrocker Yes, he resigned. Now he needs to go back to FL.
@WarnerCrocker Probably not. But, for the record, it would be nice to have it all out in the open once and for all.
@WarnerCrocker The ethics report needs to be leaked, the same way that the Dobbs decision was leaked by someone on staff at SCOTUS.
Plastics, anyone? #plastics #thegraduate #insanity
Thank you, Vice President Harris. We share your resolve!
