Of all the programming languages I’ve worked with, PHP has the tools that, in my experience, make it one of the easiest languages to really debug well. Xdebug and others are just wonderful at this in ways that are more usable than dlv and so very many others. It’s one of the reasons I keep coming back to it for various projects.

Whether that happens or not, today I feel like my future is bright and I can do anything, from small side projects like my website to big ones like teaching a little; and it all feels so wonderful.

It has been a while since I’ve had time to work on my side projects. My website, especially, needs a refresh and I’m hoping the next two weeks allows me to finish that.

Beyond that, it might finally be time for me to be able to get current with my CFI (certified flight instructor) license again and teach a student on the weekends. I’ve dreamed of doing so for some time now.

It’s Florida-like weather outside here in Chicago today. I don’t mind it for a week or so here but it is a reminder of how glad I am that we moved here where it is only 1 week a year, and not 8+ months.

It’s been a wonderful and productive day. I wish I could do this more often.

@macosken That sounds like my experience it. I feel like I remember the crazy wait times more than whatever I’ve ordered.

I will never understand the appeal of The Cheesecake factory. Joy’s dad wanted to come here for his birthday. It’s 4:00 on Friday and we won’t have a table for an hour.

For the next two weeks I don't even have Slack or company email to check and, I must say, it is rather glorious.

@andrew773 it’s more about that I really don’t get usable PTO here so sitting out for a ight in the rain means I’ll probably wind up sick which I just can’t afford. We’ve got the gear, but every time I do that I seem to catch something.

Between work and weather I’ve thrown away thousands of $ of tickets over the last year, not able to use them. Tomorrow we have Everton tickets, the show I’ve been looking forward to more than any other, and of course they’re now predicting storms.

I give up.

I won’t be buying tickets for ANYTHING ahead of time again.

Today may be better spent in bed.
