i think the privatization and financialization of everyday services and goods has done more than anything in culture to make society decohere. interacting with the world on basically any level now largely consists of attempting to outwit giant systems designed to exploit you. from the perspective of an individual, there is virtually no consistent expectation of any duty of care, moral responsibility, or trust evident in daily life, so there's little to suggest you value those qualities either
I reluctantly switched off of Firefox to Arc browser at work yesterday and... I honestly do like it a lot. I'd prefer to not use a chromium browser out of protest but I can't deny that it's great to see a company really iterate on browser UX
I have plexamp's homescreen on my phone set up with a couple smart lists: "Unlistened" (albums with no plays and no rating), "Favorites" (albums sorted by most plays), "Recent Plays", "Recently Added", and "Been a Minute" (albums that haven't been played in 3 months, sorted by most plays). This has honestly completely changed my music listening habits. Today I opened my phone and saw "Soft Sounds from Another Planet" in my "been a minute" list and just immediately hit play on it.
I remember someone on here sharing a really cool personal website that looked like oldschool Windows and used view transitions to switch between "windows" and now I can't find it anymore
@apophis hmm, that seems like it's in agreement with me? Traditional MPA apps and view transitions support the back button just fine, because they're just web pages.
