@nasser I like the concept that it's not a paradox at all, but tolerance is a peace treaty. That you get benefits from it if you also enforce its precepts. And lose it if you don't.

We can say the same with openess. What we need is definition of a good neighbor, so we can punish bad neighbors efficiently.
