    Don't know why I'm so nervous. I like my corpo job, but a former coworker of mine really wants me to jump ship to where he's working.

    This could be a great opportunity for me, and the worst they could do is say no, then I just keep grinding away at the current job.

    @sun I have some concerns about staying at the current job for too much longer, layoff might be inevitable. Maybe not next round or the one after, but inevitable.

    I don't wanna be a statistic. Also the new job seems like fun. Oh and the friend in question is a senior executive 😅

    @s8n yeah it's insecure as shit. I'm enjoying myself but I don't recommend anyone actually install it. The target audience is Mac power users who are fed up with Mac OS, and I really don't think these people are checking anything when they install quickshell plugins, or stuff out of the AUR. They don't even know how.

    Another fun thing is the Omarchy menu is full of install scripts that supposedly point to where the listed app is (example - zen browser) and you just gotta trust it. It's legit at the moment but it could become compromised.

    I'm anxiously waiting to see if all those millions of dollars raised is just money laundering or if something great actually becomes of Omarchy. It's very entertaining

    @EdBoatConnoisseur We already have an opinionated gamer distro it's Nobara which is based on Fedora lol

    I know fedora appeals to different people than Arch, but they are mad specifically because it's DHH. His perceived success is like a personal insult to them lol

    I'm still daily driving Omarchy and all my games work too :cacolaugh:

    @mischievoustomato so far so good! Scheduling willing I'll record another podcast episode on Friday and discuss the experience. That will be the real test. The tools I use all seem to work, but we'll see.

    tl;dr it's actually pretty nice. Haters keep pen testing it and talking shit online, but they have a point as some of the security findings were pretty embarrassing. However no other distro is prioritizing an agent-first experience like this, so I'm going to keep using it and maybe submit bug reports or something if I find anything.

    The rice isn't anything too special, you could achieve it on another distro without too much work (that I don't want to do), but the target audience is Mac devbros and their minds are being blown by this thing. It's fun to watch

    First of all, anybody who is already Linux pilled does not need to install this. I didn't need to install this. Everything special about Omarchy could have been configured on Arch or Cachy or Fedora with not too much effort

    I think soon omacom is going to have to decide if they keep it based on arch, move to something else like maybe Nix, or do their own thing. Given how much money they raised they will probably do their own thing, or give some cash to whatever they move to.

    I have an interest in Omarchy succeeding in the long run because nobody else seems to be interested in a premium AI ootb experience. Given how excellent local models are I think the genie is really out of the bottle. All the frontier American models could go out of business tomorrow and local models would remain useful, and I get pretty good speed and responses out of Qwen 3.8 on my AMD 7900XT. Again there's nothing particularly special about how Omarchy implements this other than preinstalling mise, and a hyprland plugin to call up those agents.

    Only another distro taking that same AI-centric approach is going to challenge the hype and funding it has. However the people who hate Omarchy the most are anti-AI. So they are doomed to helplessly scream about this on bluesky. It's kinda fun to watch
