@eaton this is so very true. I think it’s why I was able to go back and forth between digital project work and social policy so many times over a quarter century period, and there was never much time needed to readjust into software world.

Banks made record profits last financial year, as did mining companies and Coles and Woolworths keep making more profits. Australia exports most of the food we grow here, but price gouging is ripping off our farmers. The economy is rigged. It’s not some natural occurrence that has redirected profits away from working people. People are angry, and they’re right to be. This is a “heist facilitated by Labor and Liberals”.

3 out of 5 people are in housing stress. For renters, it’s 75% and the fastest growing group of people in homelessness in Australia are children. Renters and first home buyers don’t stand a chance in this rigged market. We won’t stop fighting for a rent freeze and rent caps. It’s hard to know how Labor will tackle a problem they can’t even say (housing crisis). We’ve called for a public housing developer to build homes for people.

What has been an important platform for modern political discourse; has turned into a cesspit where people are vilified without protection, misinformation is perpetuated, and far-right agitators and conspiracists are enabled to marinade in their own echo chamber of hate.
