Linux has a manual, it's just hard to access. The usual procedure is:
* Open your preferred fedi client
* Tag a random selection of users @fosstodon.org
* Say "Linux sucks because I can't even _"
* Within seconds you will receive detailed and comprehensive instructions.

(nb: instructions might involve replacing your current Linux distro with one preferred by the user you tagged. simply retry, tagging other users, if this is the case.)

@SuperDicq @schratze I agree that you can't select absolute loudness until you know exactly what your speakers do. Still, Decibel should be appropriate here, it's a logarithmic measure of the ratio of input (loudness as specified by the audio files or whatnot) versus output (loudness as specified by signal intensity within your speaker cables).

@schratze also nearly all software seems to suffer from the idea that sliders should control volume in percentages rather than dB. human senses are exponential, not linear!
