Ice Cubes have some very visible slowdown when scrolling the timeline on the Vision Pro. I’ve tried everything I can, and I can’t isolate it. The profiler gives me nothing interesting, and I’ve been attempting to remove every view one by one and come to no real conclusion. I have no idea what is going on. My guess is that it’s the iOS micro stutters people are telling me about but more visible but I’m not even sure anymore.
While Elon Musk and Tucker Carlson are preparing their clown interview, my in-laws in Kyiv couldn't sleep because of the air raid alert. But worry not. Putin will tell you NATO forced him to invade Ukraine because he's a piece of shit. Can't wait for that shitshow to happen.
Let me be clear: with Ice Cubes, if I adopt the new EU App Store terms (to add third-party payment, for example), I'll have to pay 0.50€ to Apple for "Core Technology fee" for every download if I hit 1 million downloads rolling. This is a crazy risk I'll not take. I'm glad I don't have to change App Store terms. I also think it's fair, Apple provides all the technology.
Someone asked me an interesting question: how did I learn to code? I always learned by doing. My first actual project was that I wanted to do a blog about Apple News. So I've learned HTML, FTP, how to bring my website online, etc.. Later, I transitioned to WordPress, so I learned PHP and many other skills. And after a few years and a good run, I sold it for $1000. I was 18, mind you. This has been my process with basically everything I want to learn. Build first.
But what I love here is that almost any post can spark instant debate. But then posts tend to die pretty quickly, as they won't ever reappear at the top of the timeline unless boosted.
The big + of a For You feed is to surface posts you could have missed that have great replies/conversations going on. I love to read people's opinions. The only thing we have that is close enough is explore -> trending, but that is not enough.
I want something to surface posts in my timeline with x amount of replies. Sure, I could do it in @IceCubesApp, but this is not easy when purely client side.
