I don’t make it here often because while it’s nice, it’s not quite nice enough to justify the 40-minute drive, when I can be in the mountains if I drive just a little more. In my personal opinion, only idealists have any motivation to even try to make things better. They face a steady barrage of obstacles from cynics but they try anyway, which makes them the strongest people around.

I think I tend towards cynicism naturally, but it’s something I try to avoid.

@MediaActivist one place I briefly lived, southwest Colorado maybe, the “utility company” was a ratepayer-owned cooperative. I remember the rates seemed reasonable and at the end of the year I got a check because they had a profit left, so they divvied it up among the customers. I wonder if that type of arrangement could catch on.
