So... Assuming there's no more bugs left... I got Home Assistant to do new nerd shit!
When I play a game on my PlayStations, it'll change the "Recently Played" field on my profile, and make my Mastodon profile pic match my PlayStation account avatar. When I'm done playing, it'll put my usual profile pic back! Why? Cause I fucking can, that's why! It's also a nice merge of my 2 primary special interests! *grin*

Fuck yeah! I FINALLY got ssh working in Home Assistant! I don't have to squint at that buggy ass web terminal bullshit anymore! Turns out, shit breaks if you set a username other than root while also having sftp enabled.

One #lowercase and one #CamelCase
If that solves your problem, remove the one you were originally typing and see if it still works. If yes, let me know if #lowercase or #CamelCase is what made it work.

So, the publisher repsonsible for the game that is completely unplayable due to their broken verfication system is Take-Two Interactive Software.

@runbox It's been ages since my runbox account has had an issue.... I'm not getting emails with account verification codes. Where does that new trainable spam filter you enabled put the spam? That still goes to the spam folder, right?

@eviljackcarver The last time I had Windows as a daily driver, it did a better job protecting me from the software I was trying to use than it did protecting me from system damage or data issues.
I remember a game controller popping off a box for that. All that does is train the user to ignore those.

I only have 1 weird one in Linux. My scanner pops a demand for sudo. It's fixed by adding mysself to the scanner usergroup, but I never fucking remember to do that.

@eviljackcarver Absolutely! Even I, with all my coputer skill, am prone to just click when I'm in hyper focus, or I'm frustrated, or some jackass boss is pestering, or I'm on atime crunch.
However, my brain recognizes when I'm doing the muscle memory of my password and is all "Hey! Wait!".

I fucking HATE UAC! The user account security in Windows is an absolute joke.

The fact this game's verification doesn't let me back out, and the system it's trying to verify is not funcitioning, is absolutely unforgivable. This game was free to me, and this failure state is going to make me think twice when I consider buying a game from this publisher. I can't see what the publisher is right now, but you best believe I'll be looking up that detail page when I get this out of my way.

And most importantly, the system shouldn't be requesting admin (or sudo) out of the blue. You should be able to see an obvious reason for it.

For those of you new to #Linux: How can you be sure when you SHOULD be entering your admin password?
- When you're installing software.
- When you are changing a setting that would affect all users (if you have just one, imagine you have several)
- When changing filesystems, formatting drives, or otherwise affecting the filesystem itself.
- When accessing folders you don't have user access to (Mostly things above /home/user)
- Updating (affects all users, counts as installing software)

@bri7 Me too. In the time I've been spending stuck on this verification screen with my console held hostage, I could have fully disassembled a game cartridge, cleaned all the contacts, dried it, and reassembled the cartridge.

I learned about a thing recently...
Stow! Find the config file for a program. Duplicate the file path in your stow folder and move the config in to that stow folder. It'll make all the symlinks for you. Then you can just sync the stow folder to keep configs synced between computers. (I use NextCloud to do this)

oooh intersting... A fine example of what the admin password is for. I'm not installing anything, and I'm not changing anything in the system. Suddenly, something popped the admin password request box on my #Linux system. This is exactly what that is for. I know I'm not doing anything that should require elevated privileges, so I clicked cancel. Whatever triggered that now can't do whatever shit it was trying to do to my system.
