@AnarchoNinaWrites I actually watched the speech specifically to watch for that and he didn't say it, so then I wondered if it had actually been impressed on him that it was a terrible thing to say.
He did say "battlebox" (for "ballot box") several times, but that's another story entirely
"The Tour de France stepped up protective measures, to "limit health risks" in the face of a resurgence of Covid-19, which has affected several riders in recent days.
Masks must now be worn by everyone, including organisers, guests and journalists"
"The right has been working to normalize violence of many kinds for years, with Republicans downplaying or even attempting to justify acts of violence committed against their opposition.Trump has long been central to this shift in the party, often encouraging his fanatical, sometimes heavily-armed followers to commit violence or at least create chaos on his behalf"
Boosted some posts about how even if they hold onto power, Dems aren't willing to and don't have any meaningful plan to expand the court. This is true.
But also: even if they win in November, the radical right isn't going to let them take those offices without a fight. J6 was a dress rehearsal.
We already voted & got a relative best-case scenario in 2020, *and yet we're here now anyway* 👀
"demonstrators were not outside that synagogue to protest Jews in general, the Jewish faith, Zionism or even #Israel — they were there to protest the sale of land in illegally occupied Palestinian territory"
I don't mean pack the court. I literally mean ignore them.
"Some states had preceded #SCOTUS in doing away with Chevron... If a state wants to preserve deference [to agencies], its Legislature can enshrine this process into law. But at the federal level, the old precedent is gone..
“In a world where Congress is functioning, Congress can check the courts.. If Congress were doing its job, quite frankly, the concerns around this would be a lot more muted.”"
So then folks have to acknowledge the problem is Congress, and legal corruption, not SCOTUS. It's unfortunately more structural than the "rogue" court.
Here's summary from LA Times, containing many infuriating morsels. I'll comment on just one:
"When a mob attacked a pro-Palestinian camp at UCLA in May, it was difficult to ID suspects because many wore masks that hid their identities. Police said they would use tech that captures facial images & outlines & compares them with other photos on the internet & social media to put names to faces."
A masked, violent counterprotester was ID'ed anyway & DA *refused to charge*
