Is anyone is familiar with flat flexible cables used to connect LCD panels to boards, what are the failure modes? I have a device where the display isn't great, but if I pull the cable (down in the photo), it's clear. Wondering if I could just trim the end that goes to the board? Don't really want to touch the part that goes to the LCD as lining it up and not damaging the contacts worries me.
Feature I'd like, the ability to click on all the links that you get in an email when the links all have tracking information in them so they can't track which specific (if any!) link(s) you click on.
interesting thought, on file systems like ZFS that support compression and are copy on write and mbox files, you really don't want to shift messages causing a complete mbox rewrite if the mail box is large and long. Overwriting the message w/ a dummy message that is highly compressible is an interesting idea.
of course, it's always complicated when dealing w/ legacy systems and finding correct solutions for problems.
@ThTh Has maildir done multiple subdirs so you don't end up with a single directory with 10k+ files in it which has its own issues? Quick reading of Wikipedia appears it hasn't.
Also storing mail per file limits compression improvement and losses due to file system block size. As I said originally, it's a complex set of trade offs.
Just thinking about how bhyve doesn't support other vm image formats like qcow2 which support compression, but then I realized that if your running a number of bhyve vms, your likely running zfs for storage and there you just turn on compression.
Having compression at the storage layer (hi stacker!) makes sense in many different ways. (I also finally disabled newsyslog compression of rotated log files for this reason.)
@feld Yeah, there'll be battery projects, but an interesting issue is if they have to save the battery energy for night (when not much is needed), it won't help during the summer hot months when it could provide even more load.
I hope this backfires with battery projects ending up causing coal to shutter entirely.
@adrienne Man, this totally brought back a childhood memory of touring the local bread manufacturer, and getting a freshly baked white wonder bread that was so soft and yummy.
@feld Do either of these apps ensure that the charger is public? That's one of the big issues I have is that a lot of the apps will list a charger as available, but it'll be in a parking lot that requires key card access. @Tubsta
Does anyone have a solution for managing geli key files?
That is something that maps key file to partition, preferably in a way that handles devices moving around (e.g. gpt labels). I use both glabel and gpt labels so, I try each key file with both, but it'd be nicer to have a better "key manager" than this.
If not, maybe it is time to write up some better scripts for handling this.
Yeah, totally expected, and don't forget almost 2.5% of that number is likely from a tax fraud scheme from Canada! (Almost ok vehicles, so even lower sales.)
So, as usual, big corp fails at security. It allows me to set a password longer than 32 characters, but PS Remote Play login page will only accept 32 characters.
Wonder if someone could mess with that login page by ignoring the limit set by the page. (not immediately easy as it's using the built in web browser so I can't get access to the console).
