@Gargron
They'll only stop once they've persuaded enough ordinary investors to buy in that the AI jerks in charge can cash out and leave the system to crash on top of people who can't afford it, or be bailed out by governments, sadly...

@Gargron
Hang on, I read that Mastodon had started accepting AI code contributions? Is that definitely false, then?

@thomasfuchs
What happened?

@Gargron Didn't think they still made traditional Christmas bulbs in the UK...?

Also, it's barely October, so you must have either been searching hard or the shops are REALLY moving quickly this year?

@thomasfuchs #CasioCult?

@gamingonlinux
Shame LibreOffice allows vibecoding, so AI security flaws can still get in!

@thomasfuchs
Before the 1960s or so, they were made from wax or aluminium, not vinyl...

@thomasfuchs It distinguishes it from Wax records?

@thomasfuchs
You know the thing about COVID19 causing rapid drops in cognitive ability people were talking about a few years back? I wonder if that's related to the AI boom?

@thomasfuchs
... That sounds like they're talking about the Nazi-bar from the other perspective?

@Mastodon
I *Want* the composer in the sidebar! Don't want it hovering over the content with a badly labeled button to show it!

(Also, I keep getting 503 errors sending messages today, so maybe more work fixing the backend rather than ruining the frontend would be a better use of time?

@Gargron
Doorknobs should only be used on the kind of latch that's basically a roller on a spring so pulls to open without turning...

@apps
Will it still work on older Androids with a target of 16?

@thomasfuchs
But no-one else is making netbooks anymore! That's why it's popular!

@thomasfuchs
Does UK count here, where almost everyone has a microwave and dishwashers are fairly common too, but still almost no-one has household AC (though they may at work or in cars)?

@Mastodon
As long as they don't exert pressure to have age verification built in!
@sovtechfund

@alexmurray
I suppose I've noticed many not using alternative text on images?
@thomasfuchs

@thomasfuchs
What colour is "orange-ish green" anyway? Pigment-wise, that sounds like a yellowy brown colour...?

@thomasfuchs
The trouble is, thanks to the way our previous governments tied the electricity market to the natural gas market, over here electricity goes up relative to fossil fuels but starts at 4x the cost in the first place, so people don't want to use it for heating...

@kims
Interesting that #BBCNews reported this but only played the bit from "no nation-building quagmire" onwards, cutting out the bit where he admits to/boasts about not following rules?
