Of 854 votes, half sometimes say "Fedi" or "Fediverse", 75% prefer to simply use the name of the platform they're using, like Masotdon or Pixelfed or Lemmy.

One week in Japan and I'm now pricing smart toilets in the USA because I don't think I can return to my caveman toilet life now that I've been, ahem, exposed to better things.

Hey #Fediverse I just want to say despite all the things we'd like to improve, I love what we have, what we've built. There's more to do, but I'm so happy to browse the timeline and see people sharing photos and snippets of their lives. We have something incredible here. That is all.

Fantastic range of answers, thank you everyone! I see a few recurring themes among all the great responses:

1. People really enjoy knowing they have a chronological feed that won't hide or downrank content from the people they follow. I'll add the "there's no ads" into this group.

2. Engagement is better. More engagement, better quality engagement, real people, real conversations.

3. Local or community governance and moderation. Rules that work in your local context.

@pfefferle @tchambers @photomatt I can imagine why it's not appropriate, but maybe a way to tell people who have enabled it on .com accounts to announce their account to a service like FediDB might be nice. I have three .com blogs I had to add manually, I doubt they'd ever be discovered otherwise.

Maybe I'll start yet another list of things so we at least have a directory of blogs to follow.

@tchambers @photomatt according to Matt there's 5k installs, but FediDB showing ~2500. I'm wondering how to improve discoverability (I had to add a few myself manually) - and how to drive installs - according to #SOTW there's not much interest (although Tumblr is next up for #ActivityPub integration) - WP value proposition is not clear, yet.

For me, I'd rather get the blog feed directly than a link via an author's account pulling in a RSS feed and reposting.

I've compiled a list of entities that are self-publishing, as in running their own #ActivityPub service for their own "voice", or their employees or their own members.
