DeWalt’s new router just dropped. No, not the kind of router a carpentry tool maker would make. This is, for some reason, a $2300 wireless router for the jobsite.
I'm afraid the lowest offering from @mastohost isn't quite sufficient any more with the current level of network traffic even for a single-user instance. It freezes up on me multiple times a day. I just upgraded my plan (two levels up to the $20/mo plan) and it's smooth as butter.
@mastohost What I'd love to see is more flexibility in terms of compute versus storage resources. It's currently scale-everything-or-nothing and leaves no room for cost/performance tuning for power users.
@chrisbarnes@paulkruczynski@larand@mastohost There's definitely some stuff to do if you want to share the instance with others. Stuff I'm in the process of addressing for appdot.net. But I think a personal instance closed to everyone else is pretty much fine.
@chrisbarnes@paulkruczynski@larand@mastohost I really don’t know for certain. I refuse to worry about it for my personal website because I’m not an EU citizen, and I really don’t see anyone coming after a personal mastodon instance either.
@chrisbarnes@paulkruczynski@larand@mastohost I look at it this way: my personal instance can be moved easily. If the EU gets punchy over nothing, I’ll stop sending it my business.
