@chrisbarnes@paulkruczynski@larand@mastohost I look at it this way: my personal instance can be moved easily. If the EU gets punchy over nothing, I’ll stop sending it my business.
@chrisbarnes@paulkruczynski@larand@mastohost I really don’t know for certain. I refuse to worry about it for my personal website because I’m not an EU citizen, and I really don’t see anyone coming after a personal mastodon instance either.
@joshua@paulkruczynski@larand@mastohost but isn’t GDPR mostly about cookies and tracking and whatnot? Anyway - I’m no lawyer so it seemed easier to let someone else care about this stuff.
@chrisbarnes@paulkruczynski@larand@mastohost There's definitely some stuff to do if you want to share the instance with others. Stuff I'm in the process of addressing for appdot.net. But I think a personal instance closed to everyone else is pretty much fine.
@paulkruczynski@larand@joshua having to keep track of how much data/space I was using, getting it connected to see more feeds, and then someone mentioned European legal things I needed to do since @mastohost is based out of France. Too much hassle. (But @mastohost was a great service)
Just finished deleting all my follows and followers on the birdsite, and my account is now empty and locked. Should have done it sooner. Fortunately most of the people I want to follow are already here.
